‘Now that I’ve arrived, I hereby declare myself Carly 2.0’
He’s heat, he’s spice, he’s not anything nice.
She’s sweet, she’s kind, a fun-loving find.
26-year-old Carly Adler is a fresh face in San Diego, and she wants a fresh life too, intending to leave the soft skin of pushover Carly behind to step into the robust hide of Carly 2.0. Carly part two stands up for herself, intercepts people who try to cross her, puts people in their place and isn’t to be taken for granted, not anymore. From a small life in Buffalo, Carly has left behind the people she belatedly saw as false-hearted and faithless. Sweet, lovely Carly has decided that a new place means a new her and she wants to leave the life of a doormat where she found it because nobody gets to wipe their feet on her anymore.
‘No one but me needs to know that this new and improved version of me isn’t who I’ve always been.’
Carly wants a fresh start to bloom on newer grounds and leave her stressful life behind, including her insincere ex-best friend, her ungracious ex-boyfriend and an advantageous sister. It’s compassionate Carly’s time to put herself first and stop living as an enabler. Carly 2.0 means Carly is no #1 for a change in work and play, and its time to find what’s owed to her by throwing herself into some dedicated work and showing her new employer how much of a marketing enthusiast she is.
‘If someone pushes, I’ll find a way to push back. If someone gets in my way, no more rolling over and playing dead. Forgive and forget are now F – words in my vocabulary.’
Walking into her new corporate apartment is one of the best days in Carly’s life, only in that one day she gets a keen and unsolicited insight into her unexpected roommate, Aiden, learning three things about him: he’s shamelessly striking, he’s a slob of epic proportions and he is the consummate definition of ‘Alphahole’ wrapped in a scorching ribbon of 50-shades hotter, and 50-tones of unprincipled alpha.
“You’re a rat bastard!”
“Maybe. Jury’s still out on that.” I glare at him. He’s still smiling.’
Clean is supposed to be Carly’s new start but clean is certainly not what her new corporate pad is - it’s cluttered with rubbish and bad decisions, much like her conceited roommate who has no objectives to abide by the roommate code and lives to make Carly’s life hell. And why should he? He’s rich, he’s loaded, he has no shortage of women, and with the looks of a handsome devil it’s always his way or the high way…he just didn’t know this novelty of a woman was going to choose the high way…and would rather be run over by said oncoming traffic than keel to his whims and salacious taunts.
“How about this? We go back to professional. Professional colleagues who have to share an apartment. We’re both fully dressed outside our bedrooms, we both buy our own food, clean our own mess, and treat one another respectfully. How’s that?”
He smiles. There’s deviousness there.’
Aiden Carmichael is a bad-boy alpha, but more than that he’s an irrefutable asshole - he knows it and loves it. He’s angry and fiery and vindictive, and Carly better not get on his bad side because he will come for her too. Aiden carts bitter ire, and as he deals with the laboured and damaged relationships with his own family, he sees his new roommate as the perfect target to discharge his repressed quandaries. So what better way to release harboured feelings than to toy with his gorgeous new roommate?
‘I accomplish my chosen missions every day of the week. At work. At play. In hell, too.’
“You’re an HR nightmare. How has CC not gotten sued?” “I don’t sexually harass everyone. I’m rather selective, in fact.”
But not only will he cross every boundary to invade Carly’s personal space at home, he is seeking to enflame her failures at work with the same tenor because it turns out that he is also her boss, and not only that, his father runs the entire company as CEO. With a target to claim her and destroy her at the same time, Carly won’t take his nonsense with a pinch of salt, because she’s not a doormat remember? It’s shame that Aiden has no idea what boundaries are because he wants to intercept every one with Carly, and he’s not going to stop.
‘All I know Is that I can’t show weakness with this guy. Like a typical alpha, they prey on the weak. It’s like showing red to a bull, like blood in the water to a hungry shark.’
Aiden doesn’t trust the opposite sex, and he doesn’t have residual space for greedy, carnivorous women. After re-assessing her standards Carly has to deal with a devil at home and a terror at work, but maybe she will kick this bossy alpha where it hurts, or maybe he will just make her fall in love with him instead?…
Aiden prizes first place, Carly prizes any place so long as her good heart is the reason for being there, and her growing list of new rules for a new life may as well be dandelion fluff for the wind to swallow.
“What do you like on your pizza, Carly?”
“Lots of vegetables. Lots of meat. Lots of cheese. Everything.” He smiles. “Load it up with the works. Triple cheese. Yeah.” “No hot peppers,” I add. He smiles a big and beautiful smile. I crack one, too.’
When the ice breaks and morphs into snowflakes, just like the sun unpredictably forcing out the rain Carly starts to see more than asshole Aiden, and Aiden understands how to put his best foot forward proving himself and Carly otherwise.
“When we get home, come to dinner with me. Get to know me. I warn you, I can be a dick, but you already know that and for some reason, I’ve me this girl who makes me have more good moods than I’ve had in a while. Makes me laugh. Give me this feeling in my belly.”
After reading ‘Detour’ by D.D. Prince, I just had to get my greedy mitts on more content from this author and then ‘Alphahole’ fell into my hands. If you want to read alphas of all kinds I would highly recommend her books because she writes them so well with exciting and tense drama to accompany these men who are more than trouble with double doses of sexy!
“Where’s that pizza, Curly Sue?”
“I took it to the girls. We ate it. All of it.” He chuckles and scratches his temple. “Shit. I guess I deserved that.” “You bet your fine ass you did!” “My fine ass?” “Fugoff,” I mutter…’
D.D. Prince writes a book about a man who is oblivious to civility but skilled in vulgarity, a steaming piece of alpha male pie who doesn’t like to lose, but will take a chance to lose if it means Carly will see him as more than his namesake. Hoping to release the negative energy of her topical life Carly has little choice but to evade asshole Aiden and his asshole antics. Less than accommodating, obscenely naughty, repugnantly self-obsessed and loosely moraled in most all areas of his life, Aiden Carmichael loves playing games that Carly has no interest in playing. Carly has a big heart though, and perhaps it’s infections enough to reform bad boy Aiden Carmichael.
‘And you’re real. You’re real and three dimensional and I really want this. You.’
If I had to live with Aiden in alpha asshole mode? I think I would have a spiritual breakdown. if I had to live with Aiden following his alpha asshole phase? I’d have a hormone uprising.
Great story, great fun, SO good :) ‘Alphahole’ is one of the best alpha stories I’ve read so far! If you don’t believe in love developing in the space of two weeks, ‘Alphahole’ screams otherwise.
“Don’t give up on me. It might take me a while to learn to not be an Alphahole, okay?”
I gave this book 4 stars -
Trigger Warning: Swearing, mentions of a past suicide, sex scenes

“Ha!” I laugh. “Okay, slothenly then, since only a lazy sloth would live like this. And I have no idea how you keep your appearance, since you’ve been in your Underoos all day long.” He snickers and folds his arms across his chest. “Yeah, caught you lookin’. Anyone ever teach you it’s rude to stare?” ‘He’s obviously not a perfectionist. What perfectionist lives like a slob? Surround myself with success? And what? Old pizza boxes, beer cans, and fast food garbage? Fucking banana thief.’ ‘If you have a friend who seems like your bestie, but she has something nasty to say about absolutely everyone in the world, don’t kid yourself into thinking she has nothing bad to say about you.’ “Never gave a shit what someone thought of me. No one other than my father, my brother and sister. Braed. Now, you. You thinkin’ I’m a piece of shit has kept me up at night.”
